New York City changes overnight. The streets are quieter during these hours to do the “heavy lifting”. In November, the change seems most dramatic as the retail store-fronts transition from grey brick and mortar to white lights and garlands.
As a photojournalist, I wanted to uncover who and what was involved with this transition. So last November over the course of 3 weeks in the overnight hours, I walked Fifth Avenue from 50th-60th Streets and witnessed the process.
But also discovered the extremes and ironies within these 10 blocks. (full story here.)
In appreciation and many thanks to those of you who bring the light of the season to the heart of the city!
Until next time.
